BloomBox is the entrepreneurship cell at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering. We believe that engineers harbour a latent potential to be the employment generators of tomorrow, pioneering technological and economic growth of the country.

BloomBox is intended as a platform to motivate and educate students about entrepreneurship and encourage them to flesh out their ideas in business terms and form global enterprises that combine technology, vision and business acumen. Our aim is to channelize our efforts towards spreading knowledge and inculcating enthusiasm amongst the students by altering their perspective of business in a manner that they shall cherish and shall remain etched in their memory.

Initiative Description
Expert Talks & Speaker Sessions Entrepreneurs share their experience and provide mentoring to inspire students as well as convey that only passion is not enough for a startup but it also requires skills and hardwork. Some of our past speakers are Mr. Dhairya Pujara (Founder and CEO of Ycenter), Mr. Chirag Warty (CEO of Quanical), Mr. Sameer Somal (Co - founder and Chief Financial officer of Blue oceans Global Technologies), Mr. Yahya Bootwala, Mr. Ajay Chaturvedi (Founder HarVa), Mr. Kaustubh Shivdikar (TEDx Speaker), Mr. Angad Nadkarni (Founder Examify) and many more.
Campus company Students are allowed to start campus companies to give an opportunity to experience and learn the art of running your own business while studying in campus. We encourage our campus companies to showcase their products in in-house and external events.
Internship Students are given an opportunity to intern with start-ups to get firsthand experience of working in an entrepreneurial venture. Over the past years we have provided interns to Flyrobe, Startup Cruise, TAKE IT, Universe Simplified, sunSTRATEGIC and many more.
Workshops Various workshops on topics like Idea Generation, Finance, Investments, Mind Mapping, Social Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Communication etc are conducted to equip students with required skills for entrepreneurship.
Startup visit This is to let students explore the current trends in the industry.
Startup Expo Organize Start up expo to build strong network of existing start-ups which would motivate students and encourage interaction. Panelists over the past years include eminent personalities from Startup Sector such as Bhavesh Kothari, Nikunj Ladani, Vinav Bhanawa and many more.
Social Initiatives and Enterprises Startup for being sustainable needs to be financially rewarding, but we want students to be more sustainability driven and not just purely profit driven. We believe every startup should be a social enterprise. This philosophy cannot be pushed onto students but we can let them learn through examples, experience and time. We organize several social initiatives and run social enterprise like Sell-a-Thon, Project Goonj (Clothes Collection Drive), Project Smile (Teaching of English to Housekeeping Staff) and many more.
Gang Rush Fun activities for students to learn management and team skills.
Chefpreneur A culinary event which aims to brings out the cooking as well as marketing skills of young entrepreneurs

Hack-IoT

Hack-IoT (Hackathon based on IoT), a pre-event of Maker Mela being conducted by BloomBox, Entrepreneurship Cell KJSCE and riidl, the aim is to provide a platform to design and create innovative solutions that can directly impact millions of lives.

Chatur Ideas Seminar

Chatur Ideas in association with BloomBox, Entrepreneurship Cell KJSCE conducted an interactive session on “Ways to become a successful Entrepreneur"

Chatur Ideas is one of India’s leading startup-enabling platform. After acquiring Nurture Talent Academy (India’s first Institute for Entrepreneurs present across 125+ cities and trained more than 34,000 entrepreneurs), Chatur Ideas is training young entrepreneurs across Institutes and providing them access to its vast ecosystem so as to enrich the entrepreneurship culture right from foundation level. Currently, they have more than 750 startups under their wings to which they have provided support in each of the above segments and access to their network comprising of almost 1500 Investors.

Chatur Ideas is spearheaded by Mr. Devesh Chawla (Our speaker for the session) who has been felicitated with Mahatma Gandhi Samman Award. This Award is given to only 25 Indians all over the world for their contribution to their respective fields.

The attendees got a certificate from Chatur Ideas, along with a copy of the book 'The Target'.

Panel Session

To know more about the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the growth stage of their company, BloomBox (Entrepreneurship Cell, KJSCE) conducted Panel Session entitled "Entrepreneurship - The Long March of an Entrepreneur".

The panel consists of some proficient people from the Indian startup ecosystem, and is as follows:
1. Mr. Dhaval Shah (Co-Founder, Pharmeasy).
2. Mr. Tushar Saxena (Co-Founder and CTO, Flyrobe).
3. Mr. Gaurang Shetty (Chief Innovation Catalyst, RiiDL - Research Innovation Incubation Design Laboratory).
4. Mr. Puru Gupta (Co-Founder and CEO, True Elements).
5. Mr. Nisarg Bavishi (Operations and Client Solutions, vPhrase Analytics Solution Pvt. Ltd.)

B-plan Workshop

B-plan workshop was conducted in association with RedBull Basement University and Pathfinder (Entrepreneurship Cell, KJSIMSR).

It included an interactive session where the audience learnt the concept of Lean Canvas (taught by Mr. Abhishek Barari).

Mr. Romil Shah gave a brief on Headstart (an organization that supports Entrepreneurship and startups), the Red Bull basement programme and the three waves of Entrepreneurs. We are entering the third wave where sectors like healthcare, education, food system are transforming. Also, there is a need to build partnerships and collaborate with governments and policy-makers in third wave.
